Life after a ship photog - 2007/06/26 23:31 Where do people go after life as a ship photog? It seems hard to stay in the business after hanging up the sea legs. What careers have you gone into after you disembark for the last time?

Re:Life after a ship photog - 2007/06/29 04:01 Hi there,

It has been a lot since I get off the shps, but that was a great experience. I made several works as a photgrapher and now I work in an offie. Workin on the ships wasa great experience, I had great time.

I disebarqued in Venice, wich I really liked a lot, and flew back to Spain. I spent a year on the ships and it has been one of the greatest experiences I have ever had.
Cheers,.

Re:Life after a ship photog - 2007/07/01 14:52 My most famous non photographic job experiment was Forex trading. It put me back on the ship very quickly. Don't do it. Or if you really need to just give me all your saved money. At least you know it goes for the good cause. Will snap for beer.

Re:Life after a ship photog - 2007/07/02 05:31 don't know...work for the office shoreside may be? or go on to shoot your own stuff, have exibits and sales? lot of guys retire from ships and go on to do weddings back home.kinda hard to get back into land life if you've been on ships for 5 yrs or more..

Re:Life after a ship photog - 2007/07/12 01:44 I guess it is kind of hard to see how the competition is established and advanced while you were away. You have to start to get a clientele from zero. I imagine that it is pretty scary for some people. It was for me for sure. Though I didn't tell anybody. And the 1-2 years of not much money coming in in contrast to the fat envelope you used to get on the ship. Some will find it better just to get a job somewhere. Will snap for beer.
