UK Immigration Scam - 2012/02/27 13:10 This doesn't so much concern photographers, more like our daughters in case they would want to be working in the UK as an au pair. A young girl I know is looking for such job through an agency and one day she's received the following reply:

I hope you are doing great? My husband and I have gone through your
resume and we are greatly impressed with it so kindly find the
Contract Offer that is approved by the UK HOME OFFICE..

On receipt of this e-mail, Please scan the signed contract letter and
send to Barrister Anna Wright via email:
barristertonyblake@yahoo.co.uk so he can advise us on the
things we are to do to make your journey to London a smooth one.

Naturally as in every good Nigerian scam there is also a contract attached that is too good to be true. Don't let anybody fall for this. Especially if you are from the EU, you don't even have to bother with immigration lawyers. You should read this:

this is one of the content of her letter,ATTENTION APPLICANT:

The content of your mail has been noted and I wish to clarify the issue for you.

The Western Union/Money Gram Receipt you used to make the deposit of 550.00GBP in your name. Kindly note that this money is not a payment in any way it is proof that you are financially capable of entering the UK. Every foreigner looking to enter the UK has to prove this and you will retrieve this money upon your arrival to the UK. So you are to visit the nearest Western Union near you and make a deposit of 850.00GBP using your name as the RECEIVER any of your close friends or relatives as the sender and the payout location should be the UK. You are to scan the receipt you used to make the deposit to me as soon as possible for immediate submission to the UK HOME OFFICE for the legalization of the Contract between you and your employer. You are also to go ahead and submit the other documents needed from you, that is your filled Visa Forms and 2 recent passport pictures of yourself. I hope you understand.

thanks for sharing. I hope someone will find this in time and learn from your story. One can never be too careful these days. Not long ago they went for people's greed and offered impossible amount of money or way too good deals on cars etc. that wasn't nice either but now even screwing people who are going abroad probably with the promise of a better life. That's very dirty. Will snap for beer.

thanks for posting your letter here. I think we have come across a serious problem here. This is right now one of the most viewed page on this site.

I expect that soon they start to change names, so in case somebody would see this or similar letter with different names, should definitely post it here. And in case somebody would manage to catch the bastard and smack him silly, I'd like to here about that too for sure. Will snap for beer.
