Re:SplashCase Beta 0.6.3 - 2010/07/28 07:01 Clicking on the 'commands' box does not bring you back to the application if you've left for another application - You need to click on the slideshow itself or via the dock... Is there a reason for that? Seems like the 'norm' is to be able to click on the commands box to bring me 'into' the application...

Using two monitors might be making this seem a little more odd than it is..

Already implemented but disabled in the current build. The new algorithm involved with the new image grid changes the way these tags are to be displayed as well. We're looking to leverage metadata for the visible tags as well as file names, with/without file suffix. Parsing Metadata is a tedious process, so we may have to wait a version or two before we see this in play. I will look into how text position/size may be user configurable.

Command Window
This will eventually be replaced with a Mac OS X-style HUD window (Black, semi-transparent) that will appear when you click or hover over your slideshow. There will be a HUD for each individual slideshow. The current command window was a cross-platform shortcut... A global floater that would sit atop all other windows, which is why we have platform-specific oddities (for now).

We're still a week or so away from a stable .0.64 release but I'll post as soon as it's ready. Best Regards,

SplashCase Beta 0.7.2 Preview - 2010/08/21 01:30 We're happy to announce our latest update to SplashCase This second beta introduces a brand-new user interface and a host of new features:

Preview window for an operator's view of all slideshows running.

Create and save presets.

Display file names, with or without file suffix on your displayed photos.

Add Drop shadows to your photos.

Add custom backgrounds to your slides.

Control your thumbnail size and amount of photos to be displayed at one time.

Slideshow dynamically updates with addition/removal of photos to source folder.

New Photos are shown (1-Up) immediately when added to source folder.

Re:SplashCase Beta 0.6.3 - 2010/08/31 06:45 I am doing beta testing of Splashcase 0.7.2 now. Something I discovered during that. In my laptop, I had a connector for an external monitor and that only cloned the laptop display. When I updated the driver for the display graphics, I noticed that I was able to extend the desktop to the external monitor. That enabled me to have 2 different slide shows with SplashCase. I am so excited with that because when I went for outdoor events, to have 2 different displays, I had to have a desktop with 2 monitors or 2 laptops networked together. And now I need only one Laptop with the external monitor.

I updated my other laptop which also got the extended desktop feature now. Hooray! I hope that any one who needs this feature will try updating the Display Driver. My laptops have Intel chips and Intel update has an automatic feature to find the right driver for the system without you checking what chipset or display chip you have.

The ability to span your desktop (rather than mirror) is an important point when trying to get the most out of SplashCase. If you're using 2 displays and are unsure of how to change your settings, you'll find everything you need In your Control Panel under the Displays settings (for Windows users). Mac OS will span by default.

A few notes about this latest version:

With grid settings of 3+, it is possible to have your bottom row of photos "clipped"

We have not implemented GDI+ (yet). This means that our Windows users will not see anti-aliased text when displaying file names in a slideshow.

SplashCase .0.7.2 sports a brand-new interface. We've worked hard to make it as easy as possible to get you set up and running. This is the point of development where we'd really like to hear about our interface and what would make setup even easier. We also want to hear about interface items that may be confusing. The goal is to get as close as possible to a SplashCase user having no real need for a user guide in order to get things running. That said, we will (of course!) be providing a user guide to explain every aspect of the software. Best Regards,

Re:SplashCase Beta 0.6.3 - 2010/09/01 09:50 The first thing that I noticed with 0.7.2 is that when photos are added while the slide show is going on, the added photo(s) does not get added in the slide show. That is one of the important features for me.
