It was time. Really. My sensor was already so dirty that I spent more time retouching dust spots than foreheads. And then it was also time to try the VisibleDust swabs. I was not entirely sure what to do with the dust ref. shot that I find in the Nikon menu so I took a shot against the window with a long exposure shaking the camera to visualize where the filth is. Well, everywhere...

It is not so visible on this small pic but some you can see in the corners.
I took out a swab and poured the liquid on it. If you do it be careful, it's running quickly. Locked up the mirror and squeezed my teeth together and swiped. Mirror quickly back up, lens on and took another test.

Panic, that's really not looking too good. Took off the lens and see it wet. I swiped one more time. There was wetness again. this time I gently blew on it to dry the sensor. It evaporated really quick, so I tried again. Not recommended but I used the same swab again to see what happens. You could of course put back the same contamination that was removed at the first swipe but I got lucky.

There was a couple of spots left still so I gently wiped it again with new dry swab. It worked but this is also not recommended as the liquid should serve as a lubrication between the fabric and the sensor surface to avoid scratching. I will never do it again. But you know, first time, must try it out.

Worked great I think, ready to shoot again.
